阑，将尽之意；尾，尾部。
阑尾是解剖学名词，盲肠下端蚯蚓状的突起。
阑尾发炎时，常在小腿足三里与上巨虚之间出现明显压痛点，有助于诊治阑尾炎，故名。

Meaning
Lan, will end soon; wei, tail.
Lanwei, appendix, is an anatomical term which is an earthworm like process on the lower end of cecum. There is an apparent tendor point between Zusanli and Shangjuxu on the shank. It is helpful for diagnosis the appendicitis. So, it was called "Lanwei".

在小腿前侧上部，当犊鼻下5寸，胫骨前缘旁开一横指。

Location
On the superior anterior aspect of the lower leg, 5 cun below ST 35(Dubi), one finger-breadth from the anterior crest of the tibia.

1. 急慢性阑尾炎
2. 消化不良
3. 下肢瘫痪

Indication
1. acute and chronic appendicitis.
2. dyspepsia.
3. paralysis of the lower extremities.
